Description of staff permissions
To allow your staff members access to help you to run your store, you need to give them permissions to specific parts of your Shopify admin and to specific features. You can give staff members a high level of access or limit their access to very specific functions, depending on their role in your store. In some cases, you need to give staff members multiple permissions to complete tasks in a particular area of you Shopify admin.
General staff permissions
|Home||Enables staff to view the Home page, which includes sales information and other store data.|
Enables staff to view, create, update, delete, cancel, and export orders, and receive order notifications.
Enables staff to create, change, and delete draft orders.
|Products||Enables staff to view, create, import, and change products, collections, and inventory.|
Enables staff to view, create, issue gift cards, and to export gift cards to a CSV file.
If your staff needs to create or edit customers from the Gift cards page, then you also need to give them the Customers permission.
|Reports||Enables staff to view and create reports, which includes sales information and other store data. You can't specify which reports staff can access.|
|Dashboards||Enables staff to view the Overview and Live view pages, which include sales information, and other store and sales channels data.|
|Marketing||Enables staff to view, create, and automate marketing campaigns. If you perform marketing using an app or a sales channel, such as with Shopify Email, then you also need the appropriate App and channel access permission.|
|Discounts||Enables staff to view, create discount codes and automatic discounts, and export discounts to a CSV file.|
Online store permissions
|Themes||Enables staff to view, change, and publish themes.|
|Blog posts and pages||Enables staff to view, create, change, publish, and delete blog posts and pages.|
|Navigation||Enables staff to view, create, change, and delete navigation.|
|Domains||Enables staff to view, create, import, and change products, collections, and inventory.|
Only the store owner can make changes to the store's subscription or banking information.
Enables staff to access most of the administration options the Settings page of the Shopify admin, and to create webhooks.

|Manage locations||Enables staff to create, change, and delete the locations where you stock or manage inventory.|
Enables staff to view and change permissions for staff and collaborators.
The store owner can always edit any staff permissions. Staff with the Edit permissions permission can edit permissions for other staff, but only permissions that they already have.
For instance, a staff member who has the Edit permissions and Manage settings permissions must also have the Themes permission to be able to give or remove the Themes permission to another staff member
If a staff member has the Edit permissions permission, then that staff member can give another staff member the Edit permissions permission. For security reasons, to give another staff member the Edit permissions permission, the staff member who gives the permission must have the same permissions as the staff member who is given the permission.
|View Shopify Payments payouts||Enables the staff member to view Shopify Payments settings, payouts, and transactions.|
|View billing and receive billing emails||
Enables the staff member to do the following:
Collaborators who have this permission don't receive billing emails.
|View private apps||
Enables staff members to view private apps installed on your store.
App and channel access permissions
The staff member can view and access the apps and sales channels that you specify.
|Manage and install apps and channels||
Enables the staff member to manage apps and channels if their permissions match the permissions that the app or channel requires. The staff member can add, access, or delete apps and channels. If any new apps or channels are installed in the future, then the staff member can access or delete those apps or channels without you updating this permission.
|Specific apps and sales channels||If you check specific apps and sales channels, then the staff member can only access those apps and sales channels. They can't install or delete apps. If any new apps are installed in the future, then you need to update this permission to give the staff member access to them.|
