Manage products and collections on Shop
Using the Shop channel, you can manage the products and collections that are available through the Shop app.
Manage product availability
To appear in Shop, products need to have an image, price, and product type. The products that you sell through Shop need to follow the requirements in the Shop merchant guidelines.
If you're using the Shop channel, then you can use the bulk editor within the channel to manage the products that are available to the Shop app. It can take up to 48 hours for changes to appear in the Shop channel and Shop app.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.
Click Open sales channel.
Click Catalog.
Click Manage product availability.
Select the products that you want to appear in Shop, or deselect the products that you want to hide from Shop.
Click Save.
View the status of your products
In the Catalog section, you can view the Listing status of the products that you want to be available in the Shop app.
Listing Statuses
- Not Listed: Your product isn't visible to buyers in the Shop app. Click the listing status to find out why the product isn't listed, and how to resolve the issue.
- Listed: Your product is visible to buyers in the Shop App.
Error message | Description |
---|---|
Prohibited product type | If a product is prohibited, such as age-restricted products or hazardous materials, then the product won't be approved. Learn more about prohibited product types. |
Missing image | The product image needs to exist on one of the product variants to be available in search. |
Missing product type | The product needs to have a standardized product type selected to be available in search. Learn more about product types. |
Invalid product price | The product price needs to be listed as more than 0 in your Shopify admin to be available in search. |
Product SEO hidden | If a product has a metafield set to SEO hidden, then it won't be available in search through any channel. |
Non-compliant product | If an ineligible search query is made and it matches a product, then the product isn't approved. |
Shop product data completion score
Shop provides a product data completion score and guidance to boost your discoverability in the Shop app. Improving your Shop product data completion can help your products reach new and existing Shop app customers.
You can view the product data completion for each of your products in the Catalog section of the Shop channel. When possible, Shop uses machine learning to predict product categories and attributes, and adds them to your product information. You can update the predicted product categories and attributes, or delete them.
Steps
From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.
Click Open sales channel.
Click Catalog.
Review the Product data completion column to check each score.
Click the product that you want to edit.
Click the product information that you want to add, and follow the prompts to continue.
Manage collections availability
To appear on Shop, collections need to have an image and at least one approved product. You can use the Shop channel to manage the collections that you want to appear in Shop.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.
Click Open sales channel.
Click Shop Store.
Click Collections.

Do either of the following:
- To add a collection to your Collections list, click Add a collection, and then select the collection that you want to display in Shop.
- To remove a collection from your Collections list, click the trash can icon next to the collection that you want to remove from Shop.
Click Save.
A collection needs to be available on the Shop channel to appear in your Collections list. Learn more about managing collections on your sales channels.
Change the order in which collections appear in your Shop Store
From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.
Click Open sales channel.
Click Shop Store.
Drag and drop a collection to the spot where you want it to appear.
View the status of your collections
In the Collections section, you can view the approval status of the collections that you want to make available in the Shop app. If a collection isn't approved, then you can click the link next to the error message to make changes to the collection so that it can be reevaluated.
Error messages
If your collection isn't approved, then the collection doesn't appear in the Shop app. Review the table below to learn more about what an error message means.
