Shopify Plus Partner sandbox organizations

Shopify Plus Partners can create sandbox organizations for Shopify Plus, and use them to learn how to build on Shopify Plus and to create demos for prospective merchants.

Sandbox organizations are for development purposes only. They can't be transferred to a merchant or upgraded to a paid plan.

Features and limitations

Sandbox organizations include most of the features that are available in the Shopify Plus organization management.

A sandbox organization can only contain Shopify Plus sandbox stores. When you create new stores within the sandbox organization admin, they're created as sandbox stores. Learn about the features and limitations of Shopify Plus sandbox stores.

  • You can create up to five sandbox organizations in your Plus Partner account.
  • You can create up to five sandbox stores within each sandbox organization.
  • The sandbox stores that you create within the sandbox organizations are tracked and counted separately from sandbox stores that you create within the Partner Dashboard.
  • You can't move sandbox stores created within the Partner Dashboard to a sandbox organization.
  • A sandbox organization is for development purposes only. You can't transfer a sandbox organization to a merchant or upgrade it to a paid plan.

Creating sandbox organizations

Before you can create a sandbox organization, you need to have a Shopify Plus partner account.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your Partner Dashboard.
  2. Click Sandbox organizations.
  3. Click Add organization.
  4. In the Organzation name section, enter a name for your organization. By default, the address associated with your Partner Dashboard is used as the address, but you can change that if you want.
  5. Click Add organization.
  6. Your Shopify Plus sandbox organization is created. A sandbox store is created within your sandbox organization. After the sandbox store is created, click on it to be taken to the organization admin.
